Roles in Health Surveillance

In the Health Surveillance module, it is not necessary to distinguish between the assignment of global roles and scope-based roles, as the variation in their behaviour is not relevant for this module.

Global roles grant the user the permissions of the role throughout the application, without being restricted to a specific scope.

  1. Access the Smartosh application.
  2. Go to SettingsUsers and open the user to whom you want to add global roles.
  3. Select the Global roles tab and click Link.
  4. Select the role you want to assign to the user and click Accept.
  5. Click Save.

Scope-based roles restrict the permissions of the role to a specific scope selected by the administrator.

  1. Access the Smartosh application.
  2. Go to SettingsUsers and open the user to whom you want to add scope-based roles.
  3. Select the Scope-based roles tab and click New.
  4. Select the scope to which the assigned role will refer, check the boxes you consider appropriate and click Link.
  5. Select the role you want to assign to the user and click Accept on the role screen.
  6. Click Accept on the scope permission screen.
  7. Click Save.

The following table summarises the access granted by each role — assigned either globally or by scope — in relation to the Health Surveillance module.
